2022 WAA Bill Weaver Aviation Scholarship

The Westchester Aviation Association has partnered with Performance Flight and 

Academy of Aviation to award 2 aviation scholarships for flight training.

These scholarships will be awarded as a credit to be used at the flight schools 

located at Westchester County Airport and must be used within one year of receiving the awarded amount.

$6,000 Professional Pilot Career Award sponsored by Performance Flight

This award is for flight training for a licensed pilot working toward an advanced rating at Performance Flight at Westchester County Airport to include an Instrument rating, Commercial rating and/or Cirrus Transition Training.  

To apply for the Professional Pilot Career Award, the applicant must:

✓   Be at least 17 years old.

✓   Hold a Private Pilot Certificate.

✓   Submit a copy of your Pilot’s License.

✓   Submit a copy of the last two pages of your log book.

✓   Submit a professional resume with your contact information.

✓   Submit up to a 5-minute video to include: Your aviation history and goals, where you hope to be in 5 years, how this scholarship will help you achieve your objective and your financial need. In the video, please include the specific training that you are seeking to accomplish, i.e. Instrument rating, Commercial rating, Cirrus Transition Training.

✓   May not be currently enrolled in a flight program at Performance Flight.

$5,000 Introductory Flight Award sponsored by Academy of Aviation

This award is for introductory ground school and flight training at the Academy of Aviation at Westchester County Airport.

 

To apply for the Introductory Flight Award, the applicant must:

✓   Be at least 16 years old.

✓   Submit two letters of recommendation from teachers, scout leaders, CAP leaders etc.

✓   Submit a resume that includes academic qualifications including courses taken and grades achieved, extra-curricular activities, name, address, telephone number, and email address.

✓  Submit up to a 5-minute video to include: Your aviation history and goals, where you hope to be in 5 years, how this scholarship will help you achieve your objective and your financial need. 

✓   May not be currently enrolled in a flight program at Academy of Aviation.

Applicants may apply to only one category and may not be a previous recipient.
